Patent Timepiece or "Banjo" Clock, Aaron Willard, Jr. , Boston c. 1815, in a mahogany case with half round moldings framing reverse-painted glasses on a mustard ground, the lower depicting Aurora on her chariot with winged horses, the waist glass with gilt scrolls and inscribed Patent flanked by brass side ornaments, brass bezel enclosing the painted iron dial with Roman numerals, barbed steel hands and capped by a plinth and eagle finial, all housing an eight-day time and alarm, weight driven movement stamped A. Willard Jr., Boston on the front plate, (alarm train now gone; dial repainted), ht. 33 in.
