Portrait Miniature of Harriet Mann With Her Cat, c. 1838, watercolor on paper showing a half-length oval portrait of the blonde-haired girl wearing a blue dress, holding a cat in her arms, 2 x 1 3/4 in., in an oval gilt brass case with chased bezel, the reverse with engraved inscription "Harriet Daughter of Wm H & Charlotte Mann. Born Aug'st14, 1834. Died Oct 27, 1838 Why should we weep that thou art free, sainted and loved? Farewell.", and with a small compartment, containing a lock of hair. Condition: Minor toning, small compartment lacking glass.
