Ilya Efimovich Repin or His Circle (Russian, 1844-1930) Portrait of Vladimir Stasov Inscribed "Stasov" l. l., a label inscribed in Cyrillic affixed to the stretcher. Oil on canvas, 27 x 20 1/2 in. (68.6 x 52.1 cm), framed. Condition: Surface grime. N.B. Stasov, born into a prominent Russian family, was a music and art critic whose aesthetics of realist and national expression in the arts served as a model for ocialist realism. The original version of this work hangs in the Tretyakov Gallery, Moscow.
