After Pietro da Cortona (Italian, 1596-1669) The Guardian Angel Unsigned, inscribed "Carlo Maratta" in ink on the stretcher, and "... Flornz" in pencil on the stretcher, red wax seal "BRITISH CONSULATE NORTH..." on the reverse. Oil on canvas, 13 3/8 x 10 3/4 in. (33.9 x 27.3 cm), framed. Condition: Lined, retouch (prevalent to the boy's head), surface grime, craquelure. N.B. The original dates from 1656, and is in the collection of the Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Antica, Palazzo Corsini, Rome.
