Whalebone and Ivory Yarn Swift, mid-19th century, with turned ivory yarn cup over turned ivory and whalebone shaft and clamp, all incised with thin rings of red and black, the expanding whalebone slats joined with pink silk ribbons, (minor age cracks and small losses), ht. 25 in. All slats complete and joined with early or original silk ribbons, one slat with a sliver of loss on the side, minor tight age crack on lower portion of turned yarn cup, top of clamp has a thin loss around it, bottom terminal of clamp has a small loss, fastener screw in bottom element cracked through, swift does not tighten.
