Jan Hendrik Eversen (Dutch, 1906-1995) Still Life with Pimentos Signed and dated "J H Eversen 1968" l. r., stamped on the reverse, a label from W. H. Patterson Fine Arts Limited, London, affixed to the reverse. Oil on canvas, 16 x 24 1/4 in. (40.6 x 61.6 cm), framed. Condition: Retouch, mild surface grime. Provenance: W. H. Patterson Fine Arts Limited, London, 1969. Literature: Bury, Adrian, "In the Galleries," The Connoisseur, August 1969, Vol. 171, No. 690, pg 247. Broad glazes of retouch with additional varnish inconsistencies throughout. Also, there are a few scattered small areas of retouch (c.l. background, and surround the peppers in the l.r. foreground). The work might possibly benefit from a gentle cleaning.
