George Housman Thomas (British, 1824-1868) Harbor Nocturne Signed "G. H. THOMAS." l.r. Oil on canvas, 26 1/2 x 20 1/4 in. (67.3 x 51.4 cm), framed. Condition: Strip lined, scattered retouch, craquelure. N.B. Thomas began his artistic career as a wood engraver, illustrating publications such as the Illustrated London News. His work caught the attention of Queen Victoria and the royal family, who remained his constant patrons.
