Pieced and Appliqued Cotton President's Wreath Friendship Quilt, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, 1850, the quilt showing nine blocks appliqued with flowering circlets of turkey red, dark green, and yellow printed calico fabric on a white ground, each block centered with an ink signature of a friend or family member of the recipient, some dated 1850, the quilt is bound with white cotton tape binding to a white cotton backing, the quilting is double stitched with flowers, ferns cross hatching, circles, teardrops, tulips and leaves, the borders with feather stitching and crosshatching, (very minor toning and scattered light stains), 84 x 88 in.
