Attributed to John Haley Bellamy (American, 1836-1914) American Eagle with a Banner. Unsigned. Carved and polychrome painted pine, 25 1/2 x 9 in. Condition: Rough edges, crack, later varnish. Note: A note affixed to the reverse reads: "This eagle descended in the owner's family since the 1870's. It belonged to the owner's great great grandfather Thomas Joseph Sheridan who was Assistant Lighthouse Keeper at Minot's Light in Cohasset, Ma during the 1870's and 80'S. A grateful sailor who had been rescued by Sheridan presented the eagle to him as thanks."
