RUSSIAN SILVER BASKET, ST. PETERSBURG, 1843, H 4 1/4", L 10 1/2": An oblong bowl with lobed sides and conforming base, the swing handle and rim having a grape vine motif. Stamped assayer's mark for D. Tverskoy with date, maker's mark "A.S" enclosed, possibly for A. Stockberg, "84" indicating .875 fineness, and St. Petersburg city mark (see photo). Measures H.9" to the handle, L.10 1/2" x 9". Weighs approximately 17.4 troy oz. From the collection of Victor Tahill.
