CHINESE ARCHAIC BRONZE TRIPOD RITUAL WINE VESSEL (JUE), H 7 1/2", W 7":Featuring a pair of capped posts at the rim and a C-scroll handle at one side, raised on three blade-form supports. Bears a figural mark under the handle seen on Shang examples (somewhat evident in the photos provided). Measures H.7 1/2" x 7" x 3 1/2". Provenance: From the collection of Mrs. G. G. Scranton, the friend and patroness of Mrs. Dagny Carter, a notable scholar of Chinese culture and art, and author of three books on Chinese art and antiquities. The piece was purchased by Mrs. Scranton subsequent to its discovery by Mrs. Carter in 1931. The current owners' grandmother purchased all of Carter’s art/artifact collection to enable Mrs. Carter to leave China during the period of Japanese incursion (1937-1939) prior to WWII. For a high resolution photo
