Chippendale Cherry Carved Desk Bookcase, Connecticut, c. 1770-80, the top section with flat cove-molded cornice above two hinged doors with raised tombstone panels flanked by engaged turned and reeded columns opening to a valanced compartmented interior above three blocked drawers set into lower section of fall-front desk, the lid opening to an interior of concave fan-carved prospect drawer and three blocked interior drawers flanked by three valanced compartments and four drawers on a case of four thumbmolded graduated drawers all on ogee bracket feet, replaced wooden pulls, lacks finish, (unrestored, with imperfections), ht. 81 1/2, wd. 39, dp. 20 in.
