Chippendale Mahogany Carved Desk/Bookcase, Boston, Massachusetts, 1760-80, the upper section with broken dentil pediment centering a finial on plinth over two cupboard doors with recessed cyma-curved panels flanked by fluted pilaster enclosing interior with two shelves above four short drawers with cockbeaded surrounds over two candle slides; the lower case with thumb-molded lid opening to interior of nine valanced compartments over five short drawers and two long drawers above concave and convex carved reverse serpentine cockbeaded case of four drawers on claw and ball feet, appears to retain original brasses, old refinish, (repairs and imperfections), ht. 84 1/4, wd. 41 1/4, dp. 22 in.
