Unusual Portrait Wax Doll of Colleen Moore in Lilac Time , 1928, poured wax doll with dramatically painted brown eyes with eyeliner and eyeshadowing detail, painted brows, sharply defined nose, broad smile, open-closed mouth with row of painted teeth, long neck (good repair to neck), shoulderhead on cloth body, brown mohair wig inset into forehead to duplicate her bangs, softly stuffed cloth body, wax hands (repair at wrists), dressed in provincial costume of northern France where the movie was set, wooden shoes, ht. 22 in. Provenance: The doll was won in an essay-writing contest by an English girl who later brought the doll with her to America, eventually passing it on to her friend, the current owner.
