Newton's 4 1/4-inch Celestial Globe, made up of twelve lightly hand-colored gores, with constellations represented by mythical beasts, figures and scientific instruments and labelled in Latin, four colures graduated in individual degrees and labeled every tenth degree, ecliptic in days of each Zodiacal house and its sign, and equatorial in degrees and hours, with cartouche Newton's New & Improved Celestial Globe, 66 Chancery Lane, London , in unengraved lacquered-brass meridian half-circle to baluster-turned walnut stand, ht. 7 1/2 in., (some light abrasions in the varnish, otherwise fine overall condition).
