Sailas Mahumbra (African, 20th century). "Portrait Bust of an African Woman"-1991. Carved green verdite stone figure depicting an African woman. Female portrait figure portrayed with short hair, thick gauged hooped earrings and with two interwoven necklaces. Woman's age shown through numerous wrinkles on her face. She has additional ornamentation in her hair. Signed and dated on side of figure "Sailas Mahumbra 91". Height 16 inches, width 7.5 inches, depth 10 inches. Provenance: From the Estate of Mr. Thomas V. and Mrs. Marie B. Patton, Atlanta, Georgia.
