Joseph Phiri (Zimbabwean, 20th century). "Portrait Bust of Chingwara, the Witchdoctor". Carved green verdite stone figure depicting a male African witchdoctor, Chingwara in traditional tribal dress. Figure with beard and wearing necklace under head dress. Apparently unsigned. Accompanied with copies of correspondence between the sculptor Joseph Phiri and the Pattons regarding his Verdite busts, dating to 1999. Height 30 inches, width 18 inches, depth 16 inches. Provenance: From the Estate of Mr. Thomas V. and Mrs. Marie B. Patton, Atlanta, Georgia.
