Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures, Lowe's Incorporated business card for James Stewart. As a struggling actor in depression-era New York, Stewart followed his friend and roommate, Henry Fonda, to Los Angeles. Fonda encouraged Stewart to take a screen test which earned Stewart a contract with MGM in 1935. He stayed with MGM until he was drafted. While at MGM Stewart won his only Academy Award for his role as Macaulay "Mike" Connor in "The Philidelphia Story" (MGM, 1940). 2 1/2 by 3 inches Categories: James Stewart
