Early Georgian Inlaid Walnut Tall Case Clock, c. 1740, dial signed Ben. Owen, domed cresting and arched door with engaged columns and enclosing a brass and steel face with two-train movement, subsidiary seconds dial and strike/silent lever, inscribed Jno. Hughes in the arch; mid-case with tombstone door, on a rectangular plinth, ht. 86 1/2 in. Pendulum, brass cased weights present; works apparently complete and in good condition; case with pieces off but many present; tilts to the right; noticeable shrinkage to mid-case/plinth joints and door slightly cocked; age typical additional defects.
