Ed Dwight (American (Colorado), b. 1933). "Jazz Cellist" - 1984, patinated bronze with gilt and copper leaf, limited edition 7 of 33, signed, dated, and numbered lower left of cello. Emotive modern bronze sculpture depicting an African American male jazz player leaning forward over his instrument, his hands plucking the cello strings as suspended from absent arms, and the figures face peering down before the instrument as the cello neck rises up behind his head, the sculpture verso applied with flamed gilt and copper leaf, altogether to an integral round marble plinth base. Overall approximate height 18.5", width 8", depth 10.5". Provenance: From the Private Collection of Dr. & Mrs. Calvin Wayne McLarin, Atlanta, Georgia.
