A trophy presented to Pelé on July 10, 1971, by the sports team of Rádio and TV Gazeta, in tribute to "Ao Pelé/ Rei do Futebol, o maior futebolista de todos os tempos, insuperavel recordista de quatro mundiais, inspiração suprema para a conquista definitiva da taça 'Jules Rimet' " [King Pelé, the greatest footballer of all time, supreme inspiration for the final conquest of the Jules Rimet cup]. The winged victory trophy stands on a marble base that features four football players representing the hope of a fourth World Cup championship. Brazil won the World Cup in 1958, 1962, and 1970. Affixed to the base is the metal plaque with the tribute inscription. A week after this trophy was presented to Pelé, he retired from the Brazil national team.
