A silver tone plaque presented to Pelé on September 2, 1970, from the Ipiranga Football Club of Erechim, a city in the southern state of Rio Grande do Sul, in honor of "Tricampeão Pelé" [Three-time Champion Pelé]. This day would celebrate the opening of the Estádio Olímpico Colosso da Lagoa, a 30,000-seat football stadium in Erechim. In the stadium's inaugural match, Pelé's Santos FC team defeated Grêmio Foot-Ball Porto Alegrense (Grêmio) 2-0 to win the "Troféu Colosso da Lagoa."
