Francis Upjohn, London, No. 952. Made circa 1760. Fine, quarter repeating 22K gold repoussé pair cased pocket watch. Outer: Two-body, pierced, finely chased repoussé with scrollsand a scene of a lady presenting fruit to a warrior. Inner: twobody,pierced, chased and engraved with foliage. Gilt dust cover. White enamel with radial Roman numerals, arcaded minutetrack and Arabic five minute numerals. Blued steel beetle andpoker hands. 30 mm., full-plate, gilt, turned pillars, vergeescapement, three-arm steel balance, pierced, chased andengraved cock, diamond endstone, silvered regulation dial,repeating on a bell by depressing the pendant.Movement and dust cover signed. Francis Upjohn Was the eldest son of James Upjohn with whom he worked until 1773, afterwards he worked in Bridgewater Square, London. He became a freeman of the Worshipful Company of Clockmakers in 1781 and Liveryman from 1787 - 1793
