Henrich Lehn(Cocalico Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, 1823-1862) - Hand-drawn watercolor and ink on paper fraktur birth certificate for Henrick Lehn (son of Joseph Lehn, the woodturner), inscribed at the bottom "Made by Henry Lehn 1843", with central rectangle with verse surmounted by scrolls around a clock face, all flanked by intricate potted tulips with heart shaped flowers, all over a row of strawberry plants and geometric circle, retaining vibrant yellow, green, orange, and red colors, 7 7/8" x 5 3/4", in an early swirl decorated frame. One other known example of this artist's work exists in a private collection. Pictured in Fraktur Writings or Illuminated Manuscripts by Dr. Donald A. Shelley, plate 221. According to Dr. Shelley, Henrich Lehn's fraktur is the "vocabulary of Lehn designs" used by his father in his turned woodenware. Exhibited: Joseph Lehn and Lehnware , Heritage Center Museum, Lancaster, Pa., 2001.
