“The Fire Engine” D-H, French. Made circa 1890. Fine and extremely rare, gilt brass clock in the form of a fire engine with automaton, thermometer and barometer. Gilt brass carriage with 4 wheels, water tank with hose nozzles and taps, a thermometer mounted on the upper section, barometer mounted in a drum case to the right of the carriage, fireman’s seat and helmet above, moving pump wheel driven by the action of the clock. Silvered with radial Roman numerals, outer minute divisions, frosted gilt center. Blued steel hands. Circular, brass, large going barrel, anchor escapement, spring suspension with Y-shaped arrangement connecting to the pendulum which animates the pump wheel, micrometer regulator. Dim. 43.5 x 36 x 18 cm.
