“Autumn” Geneva. Made circa 1790. Very fine, 18K gold, painted on enamel and pearl-set pocket watch with outer protecting case. Two-body, “Directoire”, split-pearl-set bezels, the back decorated with a finely painted on enamel portrait of a Bacchante in classical dress holding a bunch of grapes and with grapes in her hair, royal blue translucent enamel over sunray engine-turned ground. White enamel with Arabic numerals and outer minute divisions, Arabic quarter-hour numerals. Gold “fleur-de-lys” hands. 42 mm., frosted gilt, full plate, fusee and chain, verge escapement, threearm brass balance with flat balance spring, continental balance cock with polished steel endplate, silver regulation dial.
