“Clio” Clary, Geneva, No. 11012. Made circa 1790. Very fine, 18K gold and painted on enamel pearl-set pocket watch. Two-body, “Directoire”, with split-pearl-set bezels, the enamel back panel decorated with a very fine portrait of Clio, the muse of history, on a dark blue translucent ground over radiating engine-turning. White enamel with dauphine Arabic numerals. Gold “Breguet” hands. Hinged gilt brass full plate with cylindrical pillars, fusee with chain, verge escapement, plain brass three-arm balance, flat balance spring, gilt brass continental balance cock with polished steel endpiece, silvered regulation dial. Dial and movement signed. Diam. 53 mm.
