SO-CALLED “MOON-WATCH” Omega, "Speedmaster Professional", movement No. 26544350, Ref. ST 145.012-67. Sold on November 15, 1968. Very rare and fine, asymmetric, water-resistant, stainless steel wristwatch round button chronograph, registers, and a stainless steel Omega link bracelet. This watch is sold with a box, Certificate of Authenticity, and 2-year Omega guarantee. Three-body, polished and brushed, screwed-down case back engraved Speedmaster under ahypocampus, tachometer graduation on the black bezel, crown and pusher guards, lyre lugs. Black with luminous baton indexes, outer minute and fifth second divisions, subsidiary dials for the constant seconds, 12-hour and 30-minute registers. Luminous white "baton" hands. Cal. 321, pink gilt, 17 jewels, straightline lever escapement, monometallic balance, shock-absorber, self-compensating flat balance-spring, index regulator. Dial, case and movement signed. Diam. 42 mm. Thickness 14 mm. From the Collection of Fabrizio Mauri Notes Ref. ST 145.012 Called the “Moon-Watch” by collectors due to the fact it was worn by the members of the Apollo XI mission to the moon. Introduced in 1966, this reference is the first “Speedmaster Professional”, and is the replacement to the Ref. ST 105.012. Omega was unaware that NASA had chosen their watches for space missions until one was spotted in a photograph on the wrist of Edward White during his Gemini IV space walk.
