Grande Sonnerie with Moon Phase & Perpetual Calendar French, No. 2082. Made circa 1900. Very fine and rare, large, silvered and gilt brass, grande and petite sonnerie, 8-day going carriage clock with repeating, alarm, dual calendar with later perpetual mechanism, moon phases with lunar calendar. Accompanied by the original fitted traveling case. Multi-piece, “Anglaise Riche”, fluted Corinthian columns, moulded base and entablature, glazed on all sides and the top with bevelled glass, hinged handle. Pink chapter ring with radial gothic Roman numerals on white reserves, outer gold dot minute divisions with Arabic five-minute numerals, central anthemion decoration, subsidiary dials for the alarm, days of the week and date, aperture for the moon phases with lunar calendar at the edge, white enamel mask. Blued steel halberd hands. Brass, rectangular with going barrels both on the going and the striking train, gilt platform escapement with lateral lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel flat balance spring, index regulator, striking, repeating and alarm on two gongs, with button on the top for activating the repeating, grande sonnerie/petite sonnerie/silent optional lever on the base, further barrel for the alarm train. Movement numbered Dim. 17 x 10.5 x 9.8 cm. excluding the handle Notes Carriage clocks with moon phases are very rare.
