The Story of Venus Viennese. Made in the late 19th century. Silver gilt and painted on enamel table clock. Oval, the back with painted on enamel scene of Venus and Adonis in a landscape, the band decorated with stylized foliage in the Renaissance style, bird finial, stem in the form of a stork, circular base decorated with continuous painted on enamel scenes of Venus representing stories from classical antiquity, the underside decorated with a continuous landscape, satyr mask feet. Oval, decorated with green, blue and white champleve enamel, radial black Roman numerals. Gilt brass Breguet hands. Swiss, circular gilt brass, full plate, fusee and chain, verge escapement with micrometric potence adjustment, plain brass three-arm balance with flat balance spring, pierced and engraved continental cock, polished steel endplate, silvered regulation dial. Dim. 19.5 x 8 cm.
