Jacob Boucheret - Religieuse Jacob Boucheret a Dieppe. Made circa 1700. Fine and rare, 8-day going, ebonized, tortoiseshell and brass inlaid , hour and half-hour striking, early "Religieuse" pendulum clock. Rectangular with small molded base and top, the top with wooden arch inlaid with tortoiseshell and brass stringing, four brass flambeau urn finials, gilt brass toupie feet, hinged front and back door, the front inlaid with tortoiseshell and brass stringing. Gilt brass chapter ring with champlevé radial Roman numerals, inner quarter-hour divisions and outer sixty-minute radial Arabic figures, applied gilt brass signature cartouche below flanked by mermen. Finely engraved elaborate gilt hands. Rectangular, 115 x 125 mm, going barrels for both going and striking trains,verge escapement, steel pendulum with small bob, silk suspension, cycloidal cheeks, brass count wheel on the back plate, finely pierced blued steel striking gate, striking on a bell mounted on the top of the case. Dial signed. Dim. 55 cm high, 32 cm wide, 13 cm deep.
