MACE À PARIS - LOUIS XV BOULLE CLOCK Mace à Paris. Made circa 1740. Fine, gilt bronze, tortoiseshell and brass inlaid, hour and half-hour striking, 8-day going bracket clock with matching wall bracket. On solid scroll-shaped feet, tortoiseshell and brass inlaid waisted case, ormolu mounts on the shoulders terminating to lion masks, further ormolu foliate mounts, cresting at the top, inlaid fl oor and back door to match the case, glazed and hinged ormolu front door with appliqué of a musical trophy, female fi gure and cherubs, fi nial with an ormolu fi gure of a goddess of the sea seated on two dolphins and a shell, matching bracket. Blue radial Roman numerals on white enamel cartouches, set in gilt brass chased mask with French cock beneath a canopy, white enamel signature cartouche below. Blued steel hands. Rectangular, 15 x 13 cm, brass, baluster pillars, going barrels, anchor escapement, pendulum with brass bob, count wheel on the back plate, striking the hours and half-hours on a bell mounted on top of the case. Dial and movement signed. Dim. Width 48 cm, depth 24 cm, height 120 cm (including bracket).
