George Gassner(American, 1811-1861) - Pair of Massachusetts full-length portraits of children, the first of a young girl wearing a red dress, holding flowers in her hands, and standing in a landscape with river, inscribed lower left "Arvillannah Colbey Died July 18, 1844 Aged One Year 10 mos & 2 days Painted by Geo. Gassner", the other of a young boy wearing a blue coat and white pants, holding a crop and standing in a river landscape with a horse in the background, 35 x 28 1/4" and 35" x 28 1/2". Provenance - Descended in the family to the present owner.
