ELMA BOOK-FORM WATCH WITH PORTRAITS SILVER Elma, Swiss, No. 85. Made circa 1900. Fine, unusual and very rare, gilt silver form watch in the shape of a book containing three portrait miniatures on the inside and a portrait on enamel on the outside. Seven-body, the outside with blue enamel and a painted portrait, the middle and side panels opening to show the watch and three portraits. Matte silver with stylized painted Arabic numerals, outer minute track. Circular, 15 jewels, straight-line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued-steel Breguet balance spring, index regulator. Dial signed Elma. Dim. 31 x 49 x 10 mm.
