Double body Louis XVI with rose-cut diamond set bezels, the back with a fine painted enamel scene of a maiden playing with a child, outer rose-cut diamond set champlevé enamelled floral decoration. White enamel with Breguet numerals. Gold pierced hands. Hinged gilt brass full plate with cylindrical pillars, fusee with chain, verge escapement, plain brass three-arm balance, flat balance spring, gilt brass continental cock with polished steel end-piece.Signed on the dial and back plate.Diam. 51 mm. Notes George(s) AchardSon of François, born in Aouste (Dauphiné, France).A Master watchmaker, he was originally into partnership withhis brother Jean-François until 1796. Together, they made complicated enamelled watches. The two brothers separated, and Georges created a company called Achard & Cie whilehe was into partnershipwith Antoine Luya. Soon after, the company's name returned to G. Achard et Fils. During this last period, they made automaton, repeating, skeletonized, or form watches.
