Joel Isaac, Portsmouth, made for the Chinese Market, circa 1790. “The Miraculous Fishing Party”Fine and highly unusual gilt brass and enamel, paste-set stop-watch with erotic concealed scene. Three-body, Louis XVI with varicoloured paste-set bezels, the hinged back enamel panel painted with a fine scene depicting three maidens fishing on a riverside, the scene on the reverse, painted on the enamel backing, features the same maidens, but undressed, catching highly unusual fish. White enamel eccentric with radial Arabic numerals above the symmetrical subsidiary seconds. Blued steel Breguet hands. Hinged gilt brass full plate with cylindrical pillars, fusee with chain, verge esapement, plain steel three-arm balance, flat balance spring and gilt brass English cock, stop-watch bolt on the edge of the dial.Signed on the back plate.Diam. 61 mm.
