Ham Buz, German, circa 1650. Fine gilt metal and rock crystal octagonal pre-balance spring watch. Two-body, gilt brass frame, the centre section inset with seven faceted rock crystal panels the hinged back and front cover with similar inset panels, flat section loose-ring pendant double pivoted on a bar. Silver chapter ring with Roman numerals, applied on a gilt brass dial plate engraved with a small village, outer foliage decoration. Single blued-steel hand. Hinged octagonal gilt brass full plate with turned urn pillars, fusee with chain, three wheel train, verge escapement, plain steel two-arm balance without spring, irregular oval foliage pierced and engraved cock secured by a pin, with steel click for the ratchet wheel set-up.Dim. 52 x 33 mm.Accompanied by a gilt brass crank key.
