Chinese, 1950's. Stained wood, probably elm, carved trunk or chest rectangular in form and having carved motifs of sail boats within a cherry blossom carved border to the top and front with stylized brass hardware raised on bracket feet. The hinged top opens to reveal a removable lattice pierced tray/shelf. The interior of the lid has two labels one that reads "J.L. George 8005 Avenue Road Shanghai China" and is also stamped K0149. Height 20", width 39.5", depth 19.75".
