Du Bois & Fils, Le Locle, Swiss, circa 1790. Very fine and unusual 18K gold and enamel "Adam and Eve" animated watch with days of the week and date indications. Two-body, "Empire", polished. The top with circular enamel plaque with a painted scene depicting Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden with the Tree of Knowledge in the center. The gold snake revolves around the couple, pursuing and tempting them. Below, white enamel Breguet chapter ring with outer minute divisions, concentric with Arabic 31-day chapter, to the left white enamel circle with days of the week with their governing planets, to the right a plaque with finely painted rural scene wih a bridge in the foreground and fountain and statues in the background, against alternating blue and white bands with a gold garland suspended at the top. 53.1 mm. ø, hinged, gilt full plate, cylindrical pillars, verge escapement, plain brass three-arm balance, continental cock.Signed on the movement.
