Carl Ostersetzer (German/ Austrian, 1850/65-1914). "At The Tavern", oil on wood board, signed lower right. Painting depicting an interior figural scene with three men sitting around a barrel and using it as a table for their drinks, one man sitting on a bench at left of table with pewter tankard beside him on the seat as he reads a newspaper and the other two figures look on, with an inset shelf on the wall to background holding various bottles and rags. Painting to an ornate reticulated scrolling acanthus leaf gilt frame, and secondarily mounted in a shadowbox. Gilt frame approximately 28" x 32", sight size approximately 15.75" x 20".
