Philadelphia Chippendale walnut tall case clock, ca. 1765, the bonnet top with original flame finials enclosing 8-day brass works inscribed "Owen Biddle Philadelphia" beneath an arch inscribed "The man is yet unborn who duly weighs every hour", above a waist with highly figured arched door, flanked by quarter columns, resting on a base with applied scalloped panel, supported by straight bracket feet, 100 1/2" h. Biddle was associated with David Rittenhouse. Provenance - Descended in the family to the present owner.
