Produced in the 1930's.Fine, rare and interesting, rectangular curved, early self-winding, chrome-nickel gentleman's wristwatch. two-body, hinged, polished, stepped bezel. guilloché silver with painted Arabic numerals. "Index" and "Skeleton" blued steel hands. Cal. 796, rhodium-plated, "fausses côtes" decoration, 15 jewels, straight line lever escapement, cut bi-metallic compensation balance, flat balance spring.Dial and movement signed. Movement also engraved "Pat. appld. for".Dim. 13 x 28 mm. Notes The Autorist and Universe models were produced by the Fortis Watch Co. in Switzerland, with the raw movements being supplied by A. Schild AS. The crown is for hand setting only. The wearer's wrist movements are winding the watch by means of the lower, mobile lug of the watch.
