Fatio-Junod a Genève, No. 821, circa 1850. Very fine and extremely rare 18K gold, extra-slim pendant watch, "bagnolet" caliber, with a movement 1.5 mm thick. Accompanied by a gold chain and gold and enamel male key. Three-body, "bassine pincée", back cover centered with floral rosette in red, green, and white enamel, borders in champlevé blue enamel forming stylized foliage, coin-edge band, front with similar pattern to the back cover, aperture for the dial, ring pendant with loop for small gold chain. Silver, set in the lower part, visible through the front cover aperture, Roman numerals, outer minute track, apertures for barrel and balance bridge. Blued steel "spade" hands. Notes An interesting watch proudly called by its maker "Calibre Fatio-Junot". The watch differs from other bagnolet calibers in that the balance bridge and the barrel are visible through the openings in the dial. Bagnolet Caliber. In the bagnolet caliber the movement is inverted and the train reversed. The idea was to make a very thin watch by reducing the thickness of the bridges and the dial and eliminate the cuvette. Jacques-Alphonse Fatio-Junod. A maker of repute, he is best known for his bagnolet watches. Fatio-Junod is recorded from 1844 to 1861, in Genève's Plainpalais quarter, Chemin Gourgas."Dictionnaire des horlogers genevois" by Osvaldo Patrizzi, Antiquorum Editions, Geneva, 1998.
