ELPA, Germany. Produced in the 1930s. Fine and very decorative, painted on enamel, gilt singing bird box. Two-body, rectangular, side panels with painted on enamel rural scenes, set within white and blue champlevé enamel pattern, top panel entirely painted on enamel depicting 2 ladies and a sheep under a tree on the oval bird cover, set in a summer garden. Rectangular, brass, going barrel and rectangular bellow, the revolving bird with moving wings, beak and tail, controlled by two cams mounted beneath the barrel wheel, gilt brass grill pierced and engraved with flowers and foliage.Movement stamped with maker’s trademark.Dim. 104 x 66 x 45 mm.
