“Chrono-Micrometer” Swiss, made for the English market, with Chester hallmarks for 1890-91. Unusual 18K gold, keyless pocket watch with chronograph with 30-minute register of uncommon construction. Four-body, “bassine et filets”, engraved initials on the back cover, gold hinged cuvette. White enamel, radial Roman numerals, outer minute divisions, outermost chronograph track divided into fifths with five-minute Arabic markers, up-and-down scale at 12, sunk subsidiary seconds with the seconds hand rotating counterclockwise. Gold “spade” hands. Notes The fourfold concept involves an additional wheel in the train, allowing the seconds hand to rotate counterclockwise, and a relatively simple stop mechanism. The chronograph engagement is taken from Lugrin’s patent.
