Unsigned (Bontemps), Paris, circa 1950. Fine and unusual eight day going alarm clock with singing bird. Shaped as a small Louis XV cartel, the bird on the top, front and sides painted with Chinese decoration over a red lacquered ground. Gilt brass shaped with luminescent Arabic numerals and small subsidiary alarm setting dial. Brass with going barrel, straight line lever escapement, monometallic balance, flat balance spring. Singing bird movement: Brass rectangular, located in the base with rectangular bellow and fly regulator; the going barrel with two cams driving the movements of the bird moving wings, beak and pivoting, released for the alarm or at will, by means of a cord. In very good condition. Dim. 18 x 12 x 8 cm.
