Margetts - London, Eight day timekeeper/ James Hatton, London, No. 245, circa 1812. Fine and very rare, small eight day going marine chronometer. Three body mahogany box with external brass handles, glazed upper section with hinged lid. Brass bowl and gimballed suspension. Silvered with Roman numerals and subsidiary seconds. Gold "pear" hands. Notes This unusual and probably unique small marine chronometer appears to have been completed by lames Hatton from all ebauche ol an eight clay going pocket clnonometer coming from the workshop ol George Margetts. lames Hatton was apprentice to George Margetts circa 1799, helot(' becoming his partner from 1803 to 1811.
