Walnut Candlestand with Game Board-decorated Top, probably New England, c. 1830, the square top on a vase- and ring-turned post and tripod base of shaped legs, the top retains original decoration centering a checkerboard, the border with Union shields and geometric stars alternating with a heart, a spade, a diamond, and a club, ht. 27, wd. 17, dp. 17 in. Provenance: Walters-Benisek, purchased in 1996.
