Hayter, John (1756-1818) A Report upon the Herculaneum Manuscripts, in a Second Letter . London: for Phillips by Sidney, 1811. Quarto, first edition, illustrated with five full-page engravings of papyrus plants, four of which are hand-colored; in original printed boards, front cover detached. In this work, sponsored by the Prince of Wales, Hayter transcribes papyri found at Herculaneum in 1752, appended to which is his description of the papyrus plant, with illustrations.
