Romain de Tirtoff, called Erté (Russian, 1892-1990) Woman in Gray Signed "Erté" l. l., stamped "ERTÉ/Romain de Tirtoff...Paris" and numbered in ink on the reverse. Ink and gouache on paper, 9 3/8 x 6 3/16 in. (24.0 x 15.6 cm), unframed. Condition: Fine craquelure, toning, light soiling to edges, tape and paper remnants on the reverse. N.B. This work is thought to be a fashion drawing, c. 1917. Number in ink on the reserve, partially obscurred by old backing paper, appears to be "No. 106" or "196," although the center digit is mostly hidden, tape and glue residue to the reverse, no additional condition issues to report.
